What makes Bubs & Tots Swim School different?
We are very careful in choosing instructors who possess the desired qualities to help establish our swim school.
Our teachers hold full certification in Lifesaving 1,2,3, First Aid, and CPR, and they are trained and certified by SWIM Coaches & Teachers Australia (SWIM), the peak body for swimming Coaches, Teachers and Swim Schools in Australia.
Moreover, our instructors are uniquely trained in Joey Lingo, an early childhood program specially designed for Swim Teachers, setting them apart from any other swim teachers in the region, and ensuring they can effectively handle young learners.
Our primary objective is for your children not only to gain swimming proficiency but also to foster a genuine fondness for the water.
What is the minimum advance notice required to cancel your classes?
Our term

-
Term 2 - April to June
-
Term 3 - July to September
-
Term 4 - October to December
Please note that swimming lessons are not available on Singapore Public Holidays.
Additionally, there may be a Staff development day held on the day preceding a public holiday, such as the Monday before a Tuesday public holiday. Any necessary adjustments to your fees will be communicated to you at the beginning of the term.
Do you offer lessons during school holidays?
Yes, unless it is a public holiday or a center closure day, lessons will resume within the school holiday period.
Is there a policy for waitlisting at your facility?
Yes, you may add your desired class to the waitlist by sending an email to hello@bubsandtots.sg
Do you offer trial lessons?
Yes, we offer paid trial lessons which serve to evaluate your child's abilities and ensure that they are placed in a suitable class. With the information provided, we do our best to ensure that your child is placed in the appropriate level for the trial.
Whom should I notify in advance if my child cannot attend the swimming lesson?
You are not required to provide prior notification. You may implement the Make-up Lessons policy in accordance with the Make-up Lessons policy itself.
How long should you wait after feeding before taking a baby to a swim class?
It is generally recommended to wait at least 30 minutes to 1 hour after feeding before engaging in any vigorous activity, including swimming, with a baby. This waiting period helps to reduce the risk of discomfort, vomiting, or potential complications that may arise from active movement after a meal.
Is it necessary for me to join my child in the water during the swimming lesson?
For children aged 3 years and under, it is required that you accompany them in the water unless they are participating in a private lesson.
Once the swimming instructor determines that your child is ready to attend a lesson independently, we will inform you.
Please note that this decision may vary depending on each child's progress, not solely based on their swimming ability but also their attentiveness and behaviour in the pool.
If your child attempts a lesson without your presence and either you or your child feels they are not prepared, we are always willing to have you return to accompanying them in the water.
What occurs if my child resists entering the water?
We have encountered situations where children show reluctance to enter the water during our lessons.
We have acquired techniques and consistently utilize gentle persuasion or diversion to help overcome this challenge.
As a parent, we kindly request that you remain composed and avoid displaying concern or distress. We fully comprehend the difficulty you may face in this situation.
Remember to offer encouragement and be prepared to greet your child with warm praise, a broad smile, and a comforting embrace at the conclusion of the lesson.
What is the reason for babies needing to wear a swim diaper even if they have been potty trained?
Despite being potty trained, babies may still experience accidents, particularly in unfamiliar settings like a swimming pool.
The purpose of swim diapers is to contain any such accidents and prevent the contamination of the pool water.
This measure is essential for maintaining a clean and hygienic environment that benefits all swimmers.
To ensure compliance with this policy, Bubs & Tots Swim school mandates the use of properly fitting swim diapers from approved brands for all babies, regardless of their potty-training status.
In the event that accidents occur, resulting in the closure of our outlet for pool cleaning and business loss, Bubs & Tots Swim School reserves the right to claim the minimum cost of $500 for pool cleaning and business loss from the parents or guardians of the child responsible for the accident.
We understand that accidents can happen, and we encourage parents to ensure their child wears a properly fitting swim diaper to minimize any potential disruptions and associated costs.
Types of baby diaper to use?
-
Disposable swim diapers: These are specially designed diapers that are meant to be used in the water. They have a tighter fit around the legs to prevent leakage and are made of materials that don't swell or become heavy when wet. Disposable swim diapers are convenient as they can be easily disposed of after use.
-
Reusable swim diapers: These are cloth diapers specifically designed for swimming. They are made of a waterproof material that prevents leakage and can be reused multiple times. Reusable swim diapers are a more eco-friendly option and may be more cost-effective in the long run.
It's important to note that regular diapers are not suitable for use in the water as they tend to absorb water, become heavy, and may cause leakage.
Swim diapers, whether disposable or reusable, are designed to address these concerns and provide a more suitable solution for baby swim classes.
What occurs if there is a discrepancy in the skill levels among the children in my child's lesson?
It is a common inclination for parents to compare their children, despite being advised by their school teachers not to do so.
The same applies to swimming lessons, where some children exhibit faster development of motor skills compared to others.
Alternatively, it is often observed that each child excels in different areas. Our competent instructors possess the necessary expertise to teach and modify a lesson to accommodate varying abilities.
What is the estimated timeframe for my child to acquire swimming skills?
The process of learning to swim is a gradual one. At Bubs & Tots, we emphasize the importance of water safety as the initial step for your child.
This entails building their confidence in the water and teaching them survival techniques in case of emergencies. We focus on skills such as floating, jumping in, and turning back to the poolside.
Afterward, the time it takes for your child to become proficient in swimming varies depending on their individual abilities, including their fine and gross motor skills, as well as their rate of development. Once they acquire these skills, they tend to retain them indefinitely.
Progression
We will evaluate our students at the end of each term. A certificate of progression will be granted after each evaluation. Please don't worry if your child needs additional classes or a term to reach the desired level of proficiency. Since swimming relies on muscle memory, continuous practice is key to achieving perfection.
